Surf’s up! We are in the middle of the season for some of the biggest surf on the North Shore, with waves reaching heights of 25 to 30 feet! The conditions are extremely dangerous, and only experts can surf the giant waves. Tourists and locals from all around gather at local spots on O’ahu’s North Shore from November to late December to check out the world-famous surf competitions.
This past Monday ended the Reef Hawaiian Pro, the first of three contests making up the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing. The Reef Hawaiian Pro at Ali’i Beach Park in Hale’iwa was a huge success, with crowds of people showing up to watch some of the world’s best surfers in action. There are still two more contests to go in the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing: the O'Neill World Cup at Sunset Beach (November 24 - December 6), and the Billabong Pipeline Masters at Ehukai Beach (December 8-20). If you have not had a chance to visit the North side of the island, make sure you check it out and catch sights of some of the world’s largest waves.
