Korean Festival

The annual Korean Festival is one of the premier cultural events in Hawaii, bringing together a broad array of local businesses, community groups, and individual volunteers from the Korean community in a joint celebration of their unique heritage.

See live Korean dance performances, taekwondo (Korean martial arts) demonstrations, and cultural exhibits of Korean artifacts and memorabilia. Taste a savory, mouth-watering sampling of Korean cuisine, including favorites such as kalbi (BBQ shortribs), bibim gooksoo (spicy mixed noodles), and kim chi fried rice. Listen to the sound of sogochum (Korean drum dance) and live singers performing traditional and popular Korean songs. Come and experience Korea this Saturday on July 10th, 2010 at Kapiolani Park from 10 AM to 9 PM!

Independence Day
There will be on school on Monday (July 5th) in observance of Independence Day. On July 4th, 1776, America claimed its independence from Britain and created the Declaration of Independence. The document, primarily written by Thomas Jefferson, served as a formal announcement that the 13 American colonies were no longer part of the British Empire and would henceforth be free and independent states. Regarded as the birthday of the United States of America, the day is typically celebrated with parades, fireworks, ceremonies, barbeques, and family gatherings. We hope everyone has a great Independence Day!
