マウイの風便り

Nä Wai 'Ehä 2009/03/31 Tuesday author : Akiyo Murata フラ・カヒコについてすこしお話します。 いつかお話したいと思っていた、マウイの「ナー・ヴァイ・エハー」について。 まずフラ・カヒコとは古代からハワイにある イプヘケやパフなどの楽器を使ったリズムで踊るフラのこと。 ウクレレやギターなどの現代の絃楽器を使った華やかなフラ・アウアナとはかけ離れた、 伝統のある厳粛な踊りです。 今回私が踊らせていただいたカヒコのひとつが、マウイを象徴するこの「Nä Wai 'Ehä」 に関するメレでした。直訳すると「４つの水」という意味で、 マウイにある４つの重要な水源とその地域のことをいいます。 Waikapü Wailuku Waiehu Waihe'e ワイカプ、ワイルク、ワイエフ、ワイヘエの４つです。 ハワイ語の詩は神聖なものなので記述できませんが、 それぞれの場所に吹く風やイアオに咲く花、ワイエフにかかる美しい霧などが うたわれています。（英語の訳を載せました。） At Waikapü is the beloved The Kokololio wind Held close to the soft bosom Gently pinching At Wailuku were you At the summit of 'ïao Petals of the roses Gently pinching At Waiehu were you The Hö'eha 'ïli wind With the heavy fog in the upland Gently pinching At Waihe'e were you and I The Kilio'o'opu wind With the water of 'Eleile Gently pinching At Lahaina were you The Kaua'ula wind With the breadfruit shelter of Lele Gently pinching Tell the refrain For the four waters Return and be together Gently pinching この４つの川から流れる清らかな水がタロをそだて農業がさかえ、 マウイの中心地となりました。 現在でもこの４つの「Ｗａｉ」はマウイの主要地域となっています。 | http://www.plus-hawaii.com/blog/akiyo/index.php?e=75 | | フラ | 01:33 PM | comments (4) | trackback (x) |
